Cedar Park Neighbors 2019 Gary Bronson Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser

Scholarship Recipients.JPG

Join us on Sunday, April 14, 2019 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. for Cedar Park Neighbors' annual Gary Bronson Memorial Scholarship fundraiser to support local West Philadelphia young adults pursuing higher education and socialize with your community. We will have music, food, and drink at the event at Dock Street Brewery.

Tickets: $50 per person aged 13 and up; $10 per person aged 6-12; littlest ones free! Sponsorship opportunities are also available!

Cedar Park Neighbors (CPN) has supported a scholarship fund for Cedar Park residents who are continuing their education upon graduation from high school. Recently, we were gently corrected that the Scholarship committee was created in 1989, making this year our 30th Year Anniversary of scholarship awards. Please help us celebrate three decades of neighborhood scholarships!

In 2015, CPN named the Gary Bronson Memorial Scholarship Fund to honor our visionary neighbor who founded the scholarship program. In three decades, the fund has supported 169 scholarships for 81 of our young neighbors. CPN is very proud of this program because of the distinctive type of support it provides in the form of renewable awards, social events, and mentorship and support throughout the school year. The 2018 annual scholarship event raised more than $12,750 to provide scholarships for 12 neighborhood students pursuing post-secondary education at places like the Community College of Philadelphia, Widener University, Oberlin College.

CPN scholarships help neighborhood students pursue an astonishing array of college activities. Déanna Clarke-Campbell’s studies at Boston University have taken her around the world: she is currently studying abroad in Singapore. With the support of a CPN scholarship, Lindsey Farrell has been able to reduce her student loan costs in her sophomore year at Temple, which has allowed her to focus more on her studies and further expand her service activities. Last semester, Ainy’e Clarke celebrated making the Dean’s List at Rosemont College. This spring, she and Danielle Little, a senior at DePaul University, are looking forward to another achievement: graduation!

With support from neighbors like you, we can continue to expand in our support for local students!

Please email us with any questions.

P.S. As we make preparations to recognize and celebrate the scholarship committee’s 30th Year Anniversary, we would very much like to reconnect with past scholarship recipients! If you are in touch with any, please ask them to email us!

Cedar Park Neighbors' Holiday Basket Drive 2018

Holiday-Baskets-Banner.jpg

Dear Friends and Neighbors of Cedar Park,

Once again, Cedar Park Neighbors, in cooperation with area churches and other nonprofit organizations, will prepare and distribute food baskets for those in need during the holiday season.

In 2017, we were able to reach over 150 local families. As a continuation of this successful event, we need your financial help and support! Please click here for our donation campaign page on MemberPlanet.

Please consider a suggested donation in the amount of $36. Support at this amount will help us feed two families and foster our commitment to “neighbors helping neighbors.” For your convenience, we have also included payment options to join or renew your annual membership with Cedar Park Neighbors as well as an “any amount” option.

We will be packing and distributing the baskets on Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 8:30am -11:00am at Renewal Presbyterian Church, located on the corner of 47th and Cedar Avenue. All volunteers are most welcome! Please feel free to contact us at mlewis1071@gmail.com if you have any questions. We thank you in advance for your support!

If you are interested in donating bulk items, please contact Michelle Lewis at mlewis1071@gmail.com

Sincerely,
Michelle Lewis and Beverly Rouse
